2022 Kawartha Kraftalong

From November 18th to 20th the Around The Bay Knitting Guild held the Kawartha Kraftalong - our very first knitting retreat. Nineteen of us eager knitters made our way to the idyllic town of Lakefield, ON for a weekend of connecting, crafting, and laughing at the comfortable and welcoming Village Inn.

Upon arrival, we were treated with a welcome package filled with knitterly surprises that included a beautiful hand-dyed mini skein from Creative Knitter (in a custom fall themed colourway made just for us), cute Christmas themed needle stoppers, packages of Eucalan in various scents, and chocolates. Friday evening was a great time of connecting and getting to know one another. We also got to strut our stuff in a fashion show of our favourite knitted projects. So fun and inspiring. Saturday morning arrived with sunshine and a November chill, and members of our group enjoyed the day in various ways - visiting the variety of shops in town, (in Hallmark movie tradition, there was a bakery as well as a yarn shop/bookstore across the street from the Inn!), hiking along the Lakefield Trail, taking in 'Christmas at the Marshland Show' which highlighted work from local artisans, and of course, knitting together! After enjoying dinner at a variety of places in town on Saturday, we gathered together for another fun evening which included a rousing game of 'Knit-tionary' and a yarn swap game. The door prizes were too numerous to mention! Everybody left with a prize in the end! It truly was a relaxing and fun get-away weekend. For those of you who were unable to attend, you were sincerely missed, but we hope you will be able to join us in future retreats. We can't wait for next year!
